WILD HARVESTING
At Rou Organics LLC responsible sourcing is at the core of our business and wild harvesting is it’s foundation. We are heavily dependent on the traditions of our local tribes, who have generational knowledge in the seasons, weather patterns and preservation of the indigenous plants. With their expertise, we can harvest the fruits and seeds at the perfect time, every time.
Wild harvesting is inherently more sustainable with fruits being consumed as nature intended. All materials harvested are free from environment damaging pesticides and chemicals. The remote locations of the harvesting areas are free from nearby commercial agriculture and its influence.
All the fruits and seeds are manually harvested by the caring communities that have surrounded them for centuries.
OUR WORKFORCE
Every single worker at Rou Organics LLC is locally employed and equitably remunerated. With the vast majority of the rural communities in South Africa living below the international poverty line and reliant on government grants, hundreds of families are dependent on the income they receive from harvesting activities.
At our manufacturing plant in Modimole, Limpopo all employees are local and constantly trained to ensure they stay competitively skilled and able to build sustainable careers.
OUR FACTORY
Our Manufacturing plant, based in Modimole, Limpopo, is the only facility within the industry operating exclusively off Solar Energy. Our philosophy of keeping things simple and true to tradition allows us to stay low in energy consumption. Our tailormade Cold Pressing machinery is specifically designed to be energy efficient and high in oil yield. All of our extraction machinery is locally made and specifically designed to fit our solar solution and manufacturing needs.UPCYCLING
Nothing goes to waste
We don’t let anything go to waste. At every stage of our manufacturing process, byproducts are processed into various other products. With South Africa being a relatively dry country, the ability to offer alternative feed to cattle and specifically rural farmers is significant.
